Did you know we now treat babies and children at BOP? Why do people seek help for their little ones and why you may consider a visit to see Jenny Quinn.

Birth and baby…………

Giving birth and being born can be a stressful process for both mum and baby. Thankfully generally few problems arise from it and all is well. Babies are pretty resilient at adapting and changing to the world around them. Sometimes however they may need a little help in this early stage, maybe due to the force of the labour being strong or lengthy or due to the use of forceps and ventouse. These stresses on their tiny body can cause mechanical strains and tensions which may make them uncomfortable and grizzly. This can lead to problems such as increased crying, restlessness, problems feeding and so on. Jenny will listen to you and assess your baby mechanically, referring onwards if needed. Treatments, if appropriate are adapted to the age and development of the baby and act to address these mechanical faults and thus potentially helping your baby to feed and settle and be more contented.

Toddlers to teens……………

Toddlers and older children may suffer the same issues as adult patients but more as a result of their younger bodies not meeting the challenges they face day to day. This could present as aches pains, postural problems, tiredness and irritability. Sometimes these problems may develop through taking up a new hobby or spending increased amounts of time at a laptop or carrying heavy loads. The role of the osteopath, like Jenny, is to assess how well the body is functioning to the demands placed upon it. Her job is then to work with the child and parent through treatment, education and exercise to help overcome these challenges.
