What is Homeopathy
The holistic nature of homeopathy means each person is treated as a unique individual and their physical, psychological and emotional aspects are all considered in the management of health and wellbeing.
Taking all these factors into account a homeopath will select the most appropriate homeopathic remedy, based on the individual’s specific symptoms during the consultation.
Homeopathic medicines are safe to use as they rarely cause side-effects. This means when used appropriately under the guidance of a qualified homeopath they can be taken by people of all ages, including babies, children and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Homeopathy works on the ‘like cures like’ principle, that is, selecting a remedy that matches the symptoms being experienced. For example, if a hayfever sufferer’s main symptom incuded stinging, watering eyes, a remedy of choice may be allium cepa (onion) which causes a similar reaction in a normally well patient.
What happens during a consultation
When you see a Homeopath, you will be asked about your current symptoms. Through an holisitc approach we will explore your lifestyle, emotions, significant life events and psychological wellbeing in order to identify and prescribe a remedy to facilitate healing by supporting your body’s natural defense mechanisms.
A consultation usually lasts about 45 to 60 minutes and follow ups, at the beginning are 4 weekly with the future aim of getting to you a point where you have 4 to 6 monthly maintenance consultations in the future.
